Finally, a brand new post to tell you that I did not get murdered, move off the grid, or more importantly, abandon this blog.
The legit excuse for my extended absence? Our house burned down! In the not-so-catchily-named Thomas Fire, which put my little beachside hometown of Ventura, California on the map! And when I say "our" house I mean our family house, the one I grew up in, the one that held all our little treasures, pictures, heirlooms, and knick knacks, and the one I just happened to be temporarily living in. I know, right!? Whose house burns down!?
Anyway, it was a real gut punch to the ole creativity...and to the desire to do anything other than watch The Office and stuff my face with Reese's. But at least now we don't have to clean out the garage! (this is my go to joke to lighten the mood - turns out people get real uncomfortable when you share a minor tragedy). I'll probly post about the fire thing a little more later with topics like: what did I take in the 20 minutes we had to evacuate? The answer might surprise you.
So all that being said, I hadn't been able to reanimate enough to start posting again. But this weekend I went to Craftcation 2018 - this insanely amazing crafter/business conference that weirdly takes place in the aforementioned Ventura, California. Where I grew up. Where our house burned down. I mean... and they raised a ton of money for the local fire relief fund - seriously amazing people. I met some badass creative chicks (and new lifelong forever friends!), creepily fan-girled out on my favorite crafters, learned some crazy new skills, got hired for some illustration work (yeah boyeee!), and got totally inspired to restart this blog! If Craftcation was a cult, I'd be first in line to shave my head and rant on street corners. I'll be posting a few pics of the conference on my brand new C&P Instagram (I'm catching up to you, 21st century!).
And with that, we are officially reopened! More to come soon!
